The main focus is on the development of biomimetic intraocular implants for functional replacement of various eye structures, such as the crystalline lens, the vitreous body, and the cornea. Biomimetic implants replicate important properties of living tissues and thus provide excellent biocompatibility and clinical functionality. The Wichterle IOL (WIOL) series of intraocular implants for both phakic and aphakic eye is the first Biovision product to reach the market. WIOL and the follow-on products address common and recalcitrant problems experienced by patients and surgeons.
